Time to remember

Now that the day is practically over, I have the chance to relax a little bit and make this post. Yesterday, a prayer in sacrament meeting left me feeling pretty emotional. It wasn't really an out of the ordinary prayer, but the things that we were said just hit me extra hard that day. They prayed that especially on this memorial weekend, that we would remember those who have gone before us and also those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. For some reason, my thoughts went immediately to my baby and how because of the sacrifice, whether it be for religious freedom, or freedom in general, my son can grow up with this freedom. This world can certainly be a scary world, but we do have so many freedoms and I have so much gratitude in my heart for my ancestors and so many others that paved the way for the betterment of so many.

April 2010

Westin @ 6 months old!

First solid foods - We had tried it a week before and he didn't like it, but he loved it when we tried again. It was so cute. I got a kick out of feeding him baby food. I loved it so much!

The month of April was extra special because Skyler's mom, Desiree came to stay with us. She hadn't seen Westin since his blessing back in November. I was so glad that Westin was able to spend some quality time with his grandma.

Grandma having fun with Westin. It went on long before I began filming!

We spent the afternoon at temple square with Desiree.
Here we are at the top of the Church office building. Such a cool view!

While Desiree watched Westin, we went out on our first date since he was born! We went on a double date with my sister Natalie and her husband Tony. Dinner, then miniature golfing. Skyler and I had gone here once before when we were dating.

(Explaination: We were both throwing our hair back to get ready for the picture and we konk'ed heads.)

Desirees' last day visiting was beautiful so we went to the park
He is so funny! I love him!Westin and Mom

Daddy and Westin
Messy face!
Only picture I have of Westin in his tuxedo before it quickly became too small for him. He looked so handsome!
(He likes to pull his socks off... all the time!)
On the phone
Grass...

Loves his Johnny Jump up!I know it was a long post, so if you've made it this far, thanks for looking!

March 2010

March was a month full of new things.

We moved into our new apartment.
Westin started sleeping in his new crib (in his own room, yeah!)

Westin had his first haircut!

and he didn't like it!I had actually been wanting to get it cut since he was like 3 months old. He had the worst comb-over, old man hair, so at 5 months, I finally had my sister cut it. Looks so much better.

We had my family over for dinner to celebrate Skyler's 29th birthday.

I made my first homemade from completely from scratch cake ever.

Buttermilk chocolate cake with fudge icing. This pictures does not do it justice. I will be dreaming about this cake for months to come! I later came to find out Skyler doesn't even like coconut! Oops, now I know.

29 and looking good!

There were a few days here and there in March that brought some nice weather so we took walks on pretty much all those nice days. One day Westin and I were out for a walk and I just kept walking until I got to my families house. My little brother, Britton, got these pictures of Westin and I. I love them.

We took Westin swimming for the first time. A week or so prior, we made an attempt to go but the parking lot was completely full. We figured it couldn't be all that fun with that many people, so we went on a different day and it was perfect. We had so much fun. We'd gone swimming before, just Skyler and I, and it was rather boring, but with a baby, we had a blast! I had so much fun, I signed us up for a mommy-baby swimming class for this summer.

I love this picture. So sweet.
